wtd: rubber boot for mk2 escort track rod end
02GF74 - 20/10/10 at 12:52 PM

as per title.

don't suppose anyone has a good rubber boot to fit ford escrot mk2 track rod end?

or know if one can be purchased?

ofcourse different manufactureres make them in different sized but the top hole for the tapered part will be the same.

and if anyone asks why I don;t replace the tre - the tre has done about 500 miles, just the rubber has perished so the innards are good.

annoying to have to replace the whole tre but I suspect I will end up doing that.

i bought one from my local car parts company.

it was for a mk2 escort and came with cable ties etc.

cost me £9.00

I suspect O2GF74 means the small rubber boot on the track rod end itself, not the track rod gaiter which is what I think you're referring to(?)

I don't think you'll find a replacement boot for it myself, but then a new TRE shouldn't cost more than £10.

^^^ yep; just the rubber boot.

I have extensions that need to have track rods of a certain length for correct trackibng and thread engagement - the tre I have a quite short so not a straight forward swap.

but as ^^^ suggest, 4 Track Rod End Rubber Boots, Austin, Ford, Vauxhall on eBay (end time 27-Nov-10 05:38:18 GMT), DOH
