My sister needs to upgrade from 2KPro to XP, would this be a good idea - seems very cheap to methis

Only problem will be that it's a Dell CD and some OEM versions of XP were restricted so they'd only work on computers with that motherboard. If you put it on a non-Dell PC it might not like it when you try and activate it..... Of course if it's a Dell PC it's no problem!!!

most are bios locked so won't work unless yours happens to be the same dell pc and model!

Tried using my Dell Xp cd from my laptop on my new computer.... didnt work.

Dell XP CD worked fine on one of my PCs...

The BIG Issue, is will they give you a product key with it?

Without it its a very very expensive and useless CD.

The CD's are worthless, its the Key code that unlocks the installation thats the bit you want to pay for, or make sure you get one with the CD.

Also some Manufacturer specific CD's have a different number sequence and wont install without the matching key code.
Some will also depend on which version of the disc you have.
ie make sure you get the right code for the right disc.

Also you can only install using your code 3 times, then you have to phone up Microsoft to get it fixed. This is reasonable and deters people from installing many times on different PC's.


The Ad says its got the COA, however that booklet and bar code shown is NOT the COA. We have hundreds of those booklets he shows in the drawer at work, NONE of them have the COA sticker in with the booklet. (It came stuck to our machines)
