ROTFLMAO!!!!!
quote:
90% complete, most of the stuff has beeb done or is here,I've been waiting for another prop shaft to be made...
I liked the sellers name
yeah, a posthumous sainthood...
....... interesting whos making the prop .................
dunno but if i bought it it would be straight in the bin !!!!
actually no, i'd keep it by my bed - just in case someone tries to burgle me.
But your honor, it can't be a deadly weapon as its perfectly safe and hasn't killed anyone else!
Woodster, why dont you email the seller and ask ? LOL
go on, you know you want too......
what are we like, i say, what are we like?
I bought it....any body got a spare prop they dont need ??
best bet is probably to get one made by a professional propshaft manufacture, balanced an all that. Just over £100 probably. Post where you are and someone will know a local place.
thx Joel - I live on Wilts/Glocs borders.
Continuing the saga on the prop shaft the person that I bought the kit from has given SPD money for a modified prop for a type 9 box +race seats/
harnesses - and guess what - the stuff didnt arrive and the phone doesn't get answered !!
Good to see they can't get a lolocost manifold to fit either.
All the best Dan.
P.S. I'm sure the props fine
Hi Dan
this being my first kit car build , I'd appreciate if you can educate me on the significance of your 'manifold' comment.
Currently the car has a long inlet manifold with twin 40's + linkages/trumpets off a 1700 Westie. The kit of parts came with 2 bonnets - the
SPD one + a genuine Caterham vented bonnet. I'm not sure at this stage if further mods are req to accomodate the i/let manifold.
Regarding the SPD 'prop shaft problem' ,from what i have read on this forum , the problem seems to be related to questionable quality of
the prop fitted to the splined o/p shaft of MEC's ?? - So I'm not so worried since I intend to fit a 'conventional' engine with
standard prop/ flange fixtures to the g/box and LSD (not from SPD !!).
I bought the part assembled car + all the extra bits for approx 50% of the sum cost of the parts - so , I'm hoping to get it on the track for
another £1k-£1.5k and total outlay of less than £4k (inc SVA) .
Thx Much , Toby

http://www.propshaft.co.uk/
these people are in bradford, west yorkshire, not very local but they do deliver. They made me a shaft for £130, delivery would be around a tenner.
Very good quality and nice blokes, makes life easy! Someone linked a place down south where they saved a 10er, you may have to search if they dont
post the link again! good luck anyway...
Toby, The inlet manifolds fine on that car no mods needed,
most people have found that the Lolocost exhaust manifold sits a little high down the side of the body, if it looks good to you don't worry about
it, you have got yourself further down the line than i have and i've been building for four years.
All the best dan.
The exhaust manifolds did need some mods according to the person I purchased the kit from - but not sure how it will look once the side panel is in
place. I always did wonder how you go about getting a nice neat hole for the exhaust pipe to exit the side panel with only 1 chance to do it right. I
guess there's many on this site who have been there ,done that & got multiple tee shirts for that task !!!
Anyway guys , all the insight Im getting is appreciated - and I guess my ignorance is bliss at my stage !!! ....but heh , we all started somewhere .
Thx much ,Toby
