Just came across this on the bay. NTDWM.
Flying Fish Hovercraft Bare Hull Project on eBay (end time 14-Feb-11 16:16:12 GMT)
spooky, was looking at that yesterday!
I have built 2 hovercaft over the years... flyingfish were always pretty highly rated..
Looks like that hull has taken some abuse, but provided you were good with fibreglass they are fairly easy to fix... If you could get a 30+ briggs
petrol engine or something similar in power and weight it would be quite a good craft for abusing on beaches etc...
The last one I built had a 1000mm fan coupled to a scoobaru 4 pot... fun times
Just be careful, if you want help from the hovercraft club they are a lot of very abusive people in there... much like most motorsport forums I
guess..

I built a hovercraft a few years back. BBV-2 with a Briggs and Stratton 35 Vanguard engine.
Had some fun with it but found it a bit antisocial. Bl**dy noisy even with a four stroke, and was forever blowing sand or dust in peoples faces!
Its a bit of a solitary sport unless you are in with a lot of like minded hovercraft enthusiasts on an organised site ... and they are an odd bunch.
I sold it for just under 3 grand fairly soon after finishing it, a bit disillusioned I suppose.
I made a profit on parts costs, but not after adding my time.
