Obviously not as good as my Mitutoyo caliper, but that one's starting to pack up. Still, this seems to work well, reading goes back to zero each
time I close it (unlike the Halfrauds one I tried!) and should be fine - for just under £9!
Assorted other tools on offer too.
I bought some of those a few years ago just for 'roughing' stuff but they've been great. I always whizz them back to zero during use to
make sure they havn't wandered off with themselves but they never do. I bit battery heavy when you put them away and forget to turn them off but
that's operator error. I'd rather ruin these cheapo ones than my £100+ ones but the expensive ones have now been relegated to the bottom of
my roll cab! The Lidl calipers are ideal for leaving on the lathe swimming in coolant and swarf!
Mine cost me £6 and were from Netto now I come to think of it!
The first pair I bought came from Halfords (I'd been given a gift voucher) and cost me £19-something. They were rubbish - when I first unpacked
them they felt gritty, so I cleaned them. Then each time I closed them they gave a different reading, so I held the jaws up to the light - they
weren't parallel. Also, when you moved the slider the caliper turned on, which sounds ideal until you realise that it would do this while still
in the box.
I got a refund...
If they are the Powerfix ones, I bought 4 sets last time . 2 for work (school workshop), house, garage. They are excellent. No battery life issues and
they seem to be teenager proof which says a lot.
