You've got it advertised as an Escort Mexico
The eBay description says 1.1 engine
Mexico's were 1.6
Want to tell us a bit more about this "Mexico"?

Maybe the giveaway is in the title?? (REPLICA)

and I also mention it's 1600 xflow running gear.

Replica or not - that is one tidy machine !! Well done sir .

Reminds me of my youth, couple of my mates had a Mk1s back in the days when they were tuppence a bucket load - not like that now

YODI - 11/9/11 at 08:45 PM

Thanks wheels...

Sorry if my reply aboved seemed arsey but my advert was pretty good and descriptive I thought, so didn't get the dig about the Mexico part as it's all there....

But yes, its a great car but I'd love a kit car again something with power I've had about 10 Mk1 and MK2's now, love them and maybe one day I'll actually keep one

Wheels244 - 11/9/11 at 08:54 PM

Before I built my MNR I went to see a Mk2 RS2000 with drop nose.
Literally the car of my dreams - it was in Edingburgh 400 mile round trip - I had the money with me to buy it.
I took it out for two test drives and then didn't buy it - I think i'd built it up so much in my mind over the years, thinking it was going to be some sort of rally car - but no, I'm afraid the Pinto didn't live up to my expectations - really burst my bubble.
( wished I'd bought it seeing what the prices are now - it had a solid shell )

Oh!!!!!!!! that is SO tasty. Sod it if its a replica. Who cares a fk. Aint got the cash, aint got the space, got too many cars already but.....

fullpint - 12/9/11 at 08:02 AM

Thats well tasty.. I remember taking a genuine AVO out for a test drive in Bath back in the early 80's.. Scared the life out of me cause the seat was NOT bolted down.
This is one nice look Escort, ok a rep but but who cares. Good luck with the sale mate.

YODI - 12/9/11 at 08:46 AM

Thanks guys, im not prepared to sell it for cheap so it may stay in my garage a while longer

NigeEss - 12/9/11 at 09:36 AM

That looks fantastic, shame I can't afford it

1973 should be tax exempt too.

ChrisW - 12/9/11 at 09:45 AM

Does it really matter these days if it's a replica? It's a 2-door mk1 Escort - it's rare enough as it is. I'd far rather have a replica that's not seen much attention than a "Trigger's broom" original just because of what it says on the log book.

Chris

YODI - 12/9/11 at 09:48 AM

Chris I'm with you all the way on that, it's a Mk1 escort you can use

1973 isn't exempt though, 31.12.1972 and before are all tax exempt

Pointless dig?

Good luck with your sale. Car looks great!

Norfolkluegojnr - 12/9/11 at 10:54 AM

Just out of interest, whats the rough guide price? I'm assuming the ebay price currently is to spark interest.....

YODI - 12/9/11 at 11:04 AM

Hi,

I started it at 99p as I knew it would go up naturally and it did, its got 201 watchers and 8 questions so far of which 2 are lame PX's

I'm probably going to let the auction run, but the price would be £6500-7000 and the £6500 would be an absolute minimum too

Norfolkluegojnr - 12/9/11 at 11:08 AM

Thanks for the info.

Also out of my range I've always had a soft spot for Mk1's, and thats a lovely example.

Good luck!

ChrisW - 12/9/11 at 12:08 PM

Indeed a lovely example. I'll have one one day, but finances don't permit at the moment.

EDIT: ...unless you're interested in a straight swap for this? Unlikely I know, but have a look anyway.
