yup, ive recently got all 4 bearing kits for under 40 quid, when the local motor factor wanted 25 quid for just one front!!!!

get 'em while you can!

Rang my local Halfauds and they quoted me £38 for the clutch kit, which is the same as my regular parts guy,in saying that Ive had a Halfrauds gift voucher from xmas that needs getting spent.
Cheers,

Visited the local halfords this morning to grab a couple of these cheap rear bearings for my Sierra parts. Was told that only the front bearings were clearance and the rears were £19.99/side. They're £9.95 + postage on eBay, so I gave it a miss.

I also asked about CV boots for the driveshafts (bolt-on disc brake, type B). They looked at me like I had asked for half a pound of carrots. Anyone know a cheaper-than-ford source for these?

that's a load of old tosh. go back and tell them that firstly, you want bearings for lobro shafts, for a disk braked rear, and they are £9.99 a side. you don't want bearings for drum braked shafts, as they are the ones at about £20.

secondly, lobro shaft boots are available through halfords, and iirc, should be a stocked line. i know this because i got some for pat (avoneer).

if required, i can post part numbers for all these bits on monday when i get back to work so you can go in and demand a part from a part number. fyi, the front bearings are HWB324.

they're all bloody fools, except me

Part numbers would be greatly appreciated. Nothing like a few hard facts to beat them with.

Also went to look at a child seat there; no price on the seat or on the shelf, no staff to be seen. Turns out they were all at the front of the store, clustered around the cute girl running the checkout. How do they stay in business?

Richard Y - 10/7/05 at 08:33 AM

theres a cute girl ??? what store i shall get a transfer!

lol my department must have done 6 - 7k yesterday for little kings lynn thats alot, im always belting about in fact yesterday i worked through my breaks and we stayed open an extra 20 min for customers ironically all wanting child seats

unfortuantly not all halfords staff can be bothered its just a part time thing for umm or they have sold 40 child seats and they are fed up, or theres a cute girl.... luv it

for me though my department reflects me so i try not for halfords but for me i cant speak for others i have 3 customers waiting for me all the time, and yesterday i had to train my two new fitters as well, and check this halfrods have only just got these two in to take on my fits and they only in 3 hours each on a sat and sun loool thats how understaffed we are all the time

next time walk up to umm and get arsy!!! usually theres 10 customers to 1 member of staff, also theres child seat trainned members of staff in the store ask for one of them if you want decent service

lady asked me about child seats yesterday i just said umm its not exactly my cup of tea hun.. another satisfied customer

ill see about them item codes today mate

Dillinger1977 - 16/7/05 at 09:52 AM

front bearings - HWB324
rears (for disc brakes/bolt on driveshafts) - HWB390

they do the driveshaft boots, it took me about 10 minutes of explaining to them before they actually understood what i was after but once they did they realised they only had one in stock.. bah.
