what gearbox would that have , the lotus type (maxi internals) or a getrag ?

I'm not really sure.I'd expect a doglegged 1st,Getrag?

More likely the Hillman Hunter overdrive box --- Jensen didn't buy the Lotus lottery box (chances of geting the gear number you picked were 5 to 1).

If the Hunter box it should the semi-close ratio version only used in the Holbay Hunter/H120 Rapier and the last of the 2 seater Sunbeam Alpines --- not a bad box very strong with good change ratios are not far from the Ford 2000e box + overdrive on 3rd and 4th.
