Image wheels are having a sale on i think its just for November but be until December.
30% off now thats quite a deal so i think i will be going to see them soon to get fitted didn't want to measure up myself in case of messing it
up ! IVe done enough of that already with this build.
thats one of my pet hates, a company that sells lightweight wheels but never tells you what they weigh.
As an aside, stuart taylor do magnesium wheels for a similar price to their aluminium ones
That was gonna be my next step to see how much they weighed !
Ive always wanted some 13 inch split rims with a black centre like what they have on the westfields.
Ive only ever found the one company that sell split rims and thats image wheels does anyone know of any other company ?
not sure about split rims, but my shortlist includes hamiltonclassic.com (minilite), STM, fluke and superlite.
For 7x13s, fluke is £170 for 4.9kgs wheels, STM is £200 for 3.5kgs.
Compomotive do some nice split rim stuff.
Who are STM is it Stuart Taylor MOtorsport ?
I thought split rims were the lightest wheels !
OK if you were spending about £600 what would you get?
OK just went onto Stuart Taylor and yep i see them £200 Billet Mag/alloy Wheels 3.5kg each (ouch but seriously light!).
Anyone know what style wheel they are.
splitrims might be, if they'd only post some weights we'd know for sure! Magnesium is much lighter than ally, but it apparently is rather
brittle for road use. I only read that today though so more research needed.
The stuart taylor wheels are single piece i think, unless ive read it wrong
"Billet Mag/alloy Wheels 3.5kg each (ouch but seriously light!)
£200.00 ea"
thats listed under phoenix on their website. 3.5kgs is DAMNED light not sure if they come as 7x13 or not.

Mike Barnby at Barnby engineering in rochester, kent is another place that does split rims, he used to make all the caterham r500 rims. pricey but
good kit, we had a set of his rims on our race car, mag centres, centrelock fitment, don't ask how much they cost though

Just phoned IMAGE and they said for a 7x13 with billet centres would weigh about 4.1kg or cast centres would be about 5kg.
I like the CXR's but not sure whether i could the offset i need and i also like black centres with silver edges.
bear in mind for competition/motorsport use if you have an off or a knock its cheaper to pay £60-80 for a new inner or outer half than replace the
entire rim...
Ned.
So tell me what other advantages do split rims have over 1 piece wheels cause i always thought they were much lighter than 1 peice up until recently.
Why are they more expensive ie;
Fluke Motorsport Rail 13x7 weighing 4.9kg £169.00
Compomotive CXR 13x7 Weighing ( I DUNNO cant be far off if not the same ?) £110.00
Sorry didn't notice Coose's comments earlier that the CXR are about 4.5kg so whats going on why spend more for a heavier wheel ?
IIRC 13x6 CXR's are 4.6Kg and 13x7 CXR's are 4.9Kg so the CXR's aren't lighter than the other wheels.
certainly cheaper though! question is, is it worth an extra £90 to save 1.5kgs? that would be the STM billet mags.
