are these people on drugs ?
Yep the ebay drug
what it needs is a nice r1 motor up front and a set of triton seats ,lol.
..and preferably something in between to join them together!
for 13k something goldplated rather than powder coated

I did that on the engineer assessor site, look at the reg date!
Just checked elsewhere, it is 18th January 1962 (nearly its birthday), and 948cc (possibly frogeye sprite engine?)
Got to admit the RAC site is a bit limitied with its info but can be handy,it seems to throw up all Q plates and pre reg birthdays as jan 2001 which
is strange.
Also reads the lotus is blue.
Shite £14,200.00
wow £14.200
You could get a new one for that I believe
What a waste of money. You can build 3 or 4 Locosts with that kind of money. People sure are daft!

It went up by the total cost of my car in the last 10 minutes - BIZZZARE
That's manic!
What a bargain! £14200.00 but then it was made in 1st Jan 0001, (christ that must be the oldest car on record), For a motor in that condition Wow! Thats- open my walet, and help yourself.
O.K. thats a ludicrous amoun tof money but when was the the last time you saw a series one 7 for sale.

It's not about the car, it's about people having the 'bragging' rights to say...
"Oooh don't you know, I own an original Lotus 7 blah, blah, blah..."
well good luck to them, for £14k - I'd rather have my car, my BMW and a good holiday with the lads - looking at t*ts and drinking beer!
If you want to see really insane prices try to buy a real AC cobra.
(hint)
Even a decent copy is going to be more than £15k.
The originals are always going to, rightly, get a higher price than replicas and lookalikes.
Each to their own, a replica 7/cobra goes better is likely to be more reliable and will be cheaper but it's a completely different hobby.

I don't think you quite grasp this. That IS a classic car (pre-1960, though it sounds like it's registered later than that). It's not a
Caterham (which is based on a Lotus S3), it's an original Lotus S1!
A Swedish friend of mine has a mint S1, and brings it to the UK every year to blat around the countryside for a long weekend with a collection of
other 7's (Caterham's, Westie's, Sylva's, Fisher's etc.) and nothing stops him coming! All the panels are original ali!
Ooooh, here's a pic...
I bet once restored you could get at least three times that for it!
Rescued attachment Bjorns S1.jpg
Right that settles it then, I'm going to put in a bid of £20,000 and use it as a wedding car
Thats stupid money. Add the money to restore it on top
As said would be worth alot more in mint condition.
