One of these might be good for someone prepared to apply quite a few modifications

Hi,

Looking at the photos it looks like it just a single skin of ali with a few folds, and the torsional rigidity of an open cornflakes box.

Don't think i'd be happy to pass one if I was an SVA tester.

Is this the type that won't pass SVA or at least many don't ?

graememk - 16/9/06 at 12:24 PM

they will pass but need extra plates around seat belts etc, just use common sence as normal really and there shouldnt be a prob

JoelP - 16/9/06 at 02:27 PM

i bet it sells cheap what with the recent debacle with RH etc. Not a bad buy if you know what needs modifying.

Looks nasty to me.

They've started out without realising how much effort a proper sheet monocoque takes.

I've done a few and know

I have heard that VOSA has but a stop on ANY lightwieght passing SVA untill structural issues have been sorted,

Hope he meant PU'ed not PVA'ed!

Aluminium monocoques are complex beasts to get right and putting an extra rivet in the wrong place can create real long term problems. The more I think about it the more I think they should be lifed due to the work hardening issues.

There is a quote on RHOCAR suggesting RichardS intended the aluminium version of the design to be a trackday only car which would only last a season or two.
