RS1600?? Is that not the BDA engined car? If so, where is it?!
MK2: I saw that car a couple of weeks back. The story is he had a spare shell for his running rally car which he kept buying parts for. He ended up
getting so close to a complete car that he finished it off and planned to start running it instead. But he was too scared of throwing it into a bush,
having spent so much time and effort on it, that he just carried on with his original car. Hence, it's sale!
Really do like escorts. 20k..that all?! Saw an RS1800 for for 45000 the other week!

yeah its just a replica judging by the shell, engine and arches.
RS1600's fetch a fortune - scabby ones fetch over £10K (if they've still got the BDA)

Hi it dose seem really hard to justify spending large sums on old escorts but there really is nothing like them.
The last customer we had running one kept it in his garage for a few years after totaling it on a stage off. We all kept looking at it and saying
there has to be somthing salvagable to use but ended up selling it for relative peanuts.
Also had a customer running an ex works car many years ago. POO 504R reg if i remember . Wonder whereit isand what that is worth now if in good
condition still.
cheers matt
the mk1 was on e-blag with no takers but there was no pic with it wich didnt help
as for poo504r its still around somwhere i know a guy who has one of the bonnets from it lol
and there is nothing i have experenced yet like an escort sideways webber 45s sucking air by the bucket full and the perfect wine of a straight cut
box and a lsd magic
atlas replacement
http://www.dmrr.net/Transmission.HTM
Thats about a grand more than the Rally Design Atlas replacement axle the Hurcules. Bad name though.
As for the RS1600, you all must be Ford Gurus to be able to tell the differences between the Mexico shell and the RS1600 shell from a few small
photos, and fancy putting cheap fibreglass wings on instead of the easily damaged and prohibitively expensive steel bubble arches, not to mention
replacing the easily damaged and prohibitively expensive BDA engine.
the colour was a give away nearly all rs1600's were white not mazie yellow as this is stated as being the origanal colour in the advert
would you buy a subaru and fit a beetle engine
as for the atlas replacement thats a good axel but its not historicaly correct pain i know but thats life
as for rally design had many bad experences with them

I helped rebuild a Mk2 1600 Sport years ago in pale blue with original Rostyle wheels and it was a beautiful motor. It had turreted rear suspension and tramp bars, quick rack and proper standard wings with just a wider lip on the arch. What would that be worth now?

yes i did a little digging today and have to stand corrected on the statement about colour
as regards the engine conversion factor i geuss its all a matter of preference personaly i wouldnt have swaped a bda for a crossflow as it kind of
defets the point of a rs1600
but if thats the way anyone wanted to go thast up to them
you only have to look what would it be worth with the correct engine to know its a shame
but at the end of the day its still a 2 door mk1 esscy with a lot of good bits
Why not replace the BDA with a Crossflow? Ford did with the World Cup cars in 1970, mind it only manages five of the top eight places.
Who, Jimmy Greaves.
Hi whilst looking on the WSCC site i came across this thread .
windys next project
Quite a good read with good pics aswell.
cheers matt
