Cheap Gauges :Update
rayward - 17/2/07 at 04:59 PM

follow up to This Thread

my gauges have arrives from the USA,

total cost for 6 gauges, complete with senders £195 (got stung for £39 import duty!!)

gearbox sender cost $35 extra, but don't think its suitable for a type 9 so would work out a bit cheaper for anyone else.

probably not SVA friendly, as the edges aren't rounded, and stick out approx 10mm

I have to say I'm quite interested in these (well, certainly the price). What sort of quality are they?

Also, how did the import duty work? Did they simply add it to the price, or did you have to make seperate arrangements?

Thanks,
Bill

well made, they do different, combinations (including a 4 in1 80mm gauge),as well as different background and needle colour combinations.

parcel force send you a letter detailing the import duty, you pay them then they deliver them

What are you planning on using to drive the speedo...? I've seen something similar, and it needs a gearbox pulse generator and I've no idea where to start....

Cheers

i'm going to use a reed switch or proximity sensor, and either pick up the abs castellations(sp?) on the hub, or stick magnets on the propshaft
