Go and learn! Most technical colleges run evening courses to get an NVQ levelof welding sometimes called joining metal with heat or something similar. This will give you a grounding in all methods so you can choose which you prefer. Once you have done this then it is a simple matter of practice, while you are building you will learn and you can always cut off anything you don't like and do it again. the angle grinder is yout friend!

Learning to Mig weld is fairly easy as long as your machine is well maintained and you get some tuition first (preferably from a proper tutor). Knowing how to weld is so useful for kitbuilding anyway (for making up mounting brackets etc), though admittidly you need to be quite good before doing chassis work... Nothing practice won't sort out though....

Make some welds, do some destruction testing, cut through some of your welds to see how good the penetration is etc etc.....

That's a bargain Locost waiting for someone to snuffle up!!!
