AFAIK spool diffs are fully locked, used in drag racing and not much cop for road use.

Yep, a spool diff is not a lot of good unless you don't intend on going round too many corners, its basically just a crown wheel and pinion with no planetary gears and with the output shafts permanently fixed to the diff body, so effectively the same as a welded up diff.

They've been running that 1/2 price sale for quite a while.
