Two points:

1. That car goes for around $100,000 here in Canada

2. I have seen the facility that was made in, and I can tell everyone that it is top notch. Super7Cars is the Canadian Caterham dealer, and has worldwide rights to the left hand drive Caterhams. They build it for you once it's been ordered, so every car is a one-off. Not all the parts come from the UK; many are sourced by Super7Cars from here in Canada. It is not a factory per se, just a garage with a LOT of cars in it, and just a few workers.

The "garage" owner is a former CanAm driver, and has been involved in the Vancouver Island/BC race scene since I was in high school, when I first met him (although he obviously didn't remember when I saw him a few weeks ago...).

$50,000 for that car is a STEAL. Shipping to Europe is going to be about $2000.

What makes this car so good that £26k ($50k Canadian) could be considered a steal?

If someone is prepared to pay £52k for 2 year old bike engine Caterham they must be barking mad. They're nice, but not that nice.

In Canada it is a good price. The Pinto engined one goes for that, new. These are well put together original Cateringvan cars, that are probably not driven in winter (don't see snow tires on these things, myself). That was my point.

We all know that $50,000 for a Caterham is too much for most of us. That's why we're making copies.
