Megasquirt Mapping
dinger205 - 24/1/11 at 07:07 PM

Alright Guys and gals,

After a few weeks of playing around with megasquirt I've got the car running ok, drives ok but need to have the final map done by someone who really knows what they are doing.

As the car has not been through IVA and cant really get enough speed up in my cul-de-sac to map it I'm gonna need it put on a rolling road,

Does anyone know of somewhere that maps the megasquirt near Herfordshire? I'm willing to travel, so if you think there is agood place a few miles further then please let me know,

Thanks in advance

Dave

What engine are you running also what t/boddies, injectors

dinger205 - 24/1/11 at 07:41 PM

Its an ST170 engine on Dunnel throttle bodies, believe to be red top/saab injectors.

I seem to remember a conversation with a mate of mine saying that there was a rolling road in Letchworth.

Is that Hertfordshire or Herefordshire?

Matt who runs tour de force is one of the very best and not far from you, worth a call.

similar question, looking for mapping for a standard Zetec2000 running megasquirt, anywhere near Leicester would be good, but further is not too daunting,...

thanks in advance

If you can get there, then Northampton motorsport are fantastic at mapping, and can do megasquirt as long as it's ready to map and they don't have to sort out a load of install problems.

I spent about a year mapping my MS on the road, and got a pretty good map...I then had Troy at Northampton map it, and he made it even better......

thanks for all the info, I have also been told that for Megasquirt, that Dale at http://baileyperformance.co.uk/ is the best in the land,...

sounds promising, and worth a drive over,..

Jamie at Jamsport did mine. As Jenko said about NMS, he doesn't want to mess around getting installation problems sorted. It needs to be running correctly and everything properly installed and debugged first. I took my own laptop as well so there were no connection issues.

Did you get it sorted?

dinger205 - 3/2/11 at 05:45 PM

I visited Tour-de-force toady and me with Matt, We had a very long conversation on the phone previously and I'd explained what I needed from the ecu, To my surprise he said he would have a look and do his best to get the emmissions set. Must say that from first impressions these guys seem very good.

I arrived at 9am and within 5 mins Matt had got the engine running 20 times better than I had been able to over the last 6 weeks, into the dyno cell to put the car on the AFR machine, I would'nt say this is where it all went wrong but things did start going down hill,
Now being a realist I was ready for the news that it wont come down far enough to pass IVA, After a while and a long chat with Matt I have decided to stop throwing money at the Megasquirt and use an ECU that will fully control my VVT,

Megasquirt would be perfect for the blacktop Zetec but the ST170 engine still needs a small amount of lift at idle and MS just cant do that,

However, I cant reccomend tour-de-force strongly enough, real good bunch of guys with honest opinions and suggestions.

One 2 month old megasquirt 2 with Zetec loom up for sale, LOL

just upgrade the chip as far as i am aware the new ms3 chip can do pwm vvt using the ms3x card

HowardB - 3/2/11 at 06:38 PM

or,...

Get it passed and then put the MS back in,...?

Thats what i would do, but then youll need another ecu.

dinger205 - 3/2/11 at 08:16 PM

So let me get this right,,,,,

Buy a better ecu to fully control VVT,,,,,,,,, then,,,, once IVA passed,,,,,,,, put the megasquirt back on?

Cant see the reasoning behind that! As I'll have a better ecu, Lol
