Changing from pinto to duratec on westfield.
Removed old pinto alternator and need to wire in the duratec standard ford one.
I have no idea which wires are which from the pinto and any idea where they go on the duratec.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram for both or even better anyone know and can explain the easiest and or best way to do it.
Thanks
I think the Duratec alternator is wired into the original Duratec ECU so unless you are using this ECU it will be difficult to get it to work.
You would probably be better off making new brackets for the pinto alternator or use a smaller unit like most others have done.
hope this helps

Just found this link which suggests the Duratec alt can be used

As that looks very complicated to get the standard duratec one to work
Where can I get mounts to make the pinto one fit?
I dont really fancy spending £400 on a raceline or similar one
You can't you have to make up your own brackets
Or buy a little Denso alternator. Lots of cars use them. Mine was for a Kubota tractor and was £30 as new. The race line ones are just the same, but
with a bit more profit!

Be careful buying alternator from industrial kit as sometimes they are not designed to run at high revs.
You would be better buying one off a Diahatsu car.

It will depend on which alternator you buy and where you mount it
Let me know what you need and I'll sort one at cost price.
Started making rough ones will hopefully finish them off next week.
Cheers for help
