Correct very few of them about - I've got one (shared with my brother) there's a couple more kicking around the speed event scene, a another couple of road cars knocking about that we came across, know of one in Holland and that's about it.

Seen as a bit of a 'Odd Ball' but we made ours go pretty well - anybody looking for a club motorsport car could do a LOT worse than that IMHO.

mine is no longer recognisable as a mk3, i never even found out it was until after i had bought it and looked properly through the paperwork.

I thought about placing a bid on this. I Handy realised it was a mk3. Is this bad? I thought I'd read the mk3 Wasn't as good as the Mk2.

Hi - nah, total myth - it's just a little different, front suspension is outboard - as per a 'normal' locost compared to the Mk2 which has inboard dampers.
There's arguments for both solutions, but so little difference it made little point having two variants - however the basic layout later resurfaced as the Striker Mk4/Pheonix/Fury.

outboard suspension on mk3 is ok.....but i have never seen sylva using the (ugly) ford cortina or vauxhall pressed steel wishbones???

the outboard cars are using vauxhall uprights at front with sylva´s own wisbones.

this one looks really strange.....

It also had a fibreglass tunnel....again, not that it makes a difference.
Mk3 was an attempt to build a budget Striker...

Ohh - well spotted that Man.. quite right that does look a bit different - looks to be using pretty much the same top wishbone mounts though, so probably all changeable. Certainly my Mk3 has non standard top & bottom front wishbones and a pukka transmission tunnel too..
By now none of them will be as Jeremy built them I suspect

looks more like the star or leader assembly....luckily their bonnets covered those ugly-massive wishbones, whereas on a striker they are exposed.

I had a MkIII 21 years ago, it had custom fabricated front arms, nothing llike those. Not saying they're not original but certainly my MKIII was and didn't look anything like that.
Personally my MKIII handled better than every MKII that I've owned with a live axle. Now that's put the cat amongst the pigeons!

i do not think that this vauxhall wishbone striker might have a good handling...looks identically to the cortina wishbones and they never worked satisfying in such light cars (e.g t&j locust, robinhood cortina subframe s7, spartan )

surplus it looks totally ugly.

Mine was sold to Simon Rix in Evesham, June 96
Mine had the square tubes on the wishbone
It was also unusual in that it was one of the only cars with swept wings. They were very functional, keeping a lot of water off the side screens and hence interior dry
I did 100's of miles in pouring rain going to Wales at weekends
I have the chassis number but won't post it here
