my phone just rang.

In all the years I've lived here, (11 in total), this is the first time I've heard it ring!!!

It is one of these 1950 style, not too dissimiar to this:

It was when I were a lad, but then I remember when we had to put a 2 in front of it, making it 266 6414. And then when they changed from 091 to 0191.

We had a phone with a answer machine and then when we got a new one it was kept as a spare in the walldrobe, never though any more about it then after a few weeks you could hear what sounded like some one out side.
Got up had a look around and out side nothing this went on for a few nights.
Then after checking around thinking it was the kids with a toy left on traced the sound to the walldrobe and found the sound comming from the phone.
The phone was not pluged in or a battery back up but the rceiever was off the hook i replaced it and it stopped.
Every time you lifted the hand set you could hear the wispers, you could not make it out but we chucked it as the wife did not like it.
I wanted to plug it in to see if any mesages were on it but it went in the bin straight away.
