Looking at converting my zetec 2.0 blacktop 160R to bike carbs so could do with a bit of help..
presently using 40's with omex 200 with TPs,so can the TPs just be fransferred onto the bike carbs?
I understand some don't come with this facility and if not will it upset my omex?
So if anybody has a bike carb setup what are you using and any info on jets etc.I have had a quote from FASTdan but need more info as don't want
to buy the wrong kit.
Ta in advance
Ross
Zx9 carbs work a treat. They come with tps too so it's just a case of matching your ones to there tps output signal. As I said earlier 160 jets are about spot on with air correctors either sealed or with a tiny pin prick. But get an air box for them!!
cheers Cal,
spoke to bogg bros today just waiting for them to get back to me,but thought I would ask on the forum.Looking like zx9 carbs with manifold.
Bogg bros are brilliant so I hear but if you can get hold of a cheap set of zx9 carbs. Search for a guy/company on Facebook called danst engineering. He did my manifold.nt sure how much bogg bros charge though so might end up being th same all in with tuning etc
ZX6r's on my 2.0 Zetec.
They are quite cheap to buy and work great - again they come with a TPS. Mine are just re-spaced and bolted up to the head with a bit of 5mm ali.

Cal,
I had an email from Dastengineering, but quoting for 600 cc carbs that is why I asked the question on the forum, just seeing what turns up before
ordering from one of the companies, still a bit no sure about the TPs as electronics is not my stong point!!
Cheers Stu,
what did you do regarding TPs ??
I have a set of ZX9r E series carbs in excellent condition, £80 plus postage if required
I'm based in Chandlers Ford, SO53 2FF

ZX9 carbs are good enough I replaced my 40's for ZX9 they come with TPS, have a better MPG I do feel the Weberrs had a little more torque when openend up initially
That and the bike carbs don't go out of tune every five minutes.

Nice , there was a manifold for a 9r carb set in he for sale section, Charlie zetec, not sure I it's sold though
OK chaps do the carbs need spacing out (ZX9R) or do they stay as standard??
Think it depends I would look at getting a manifold to fit the carbs, saves messing about with spacing my manifold came made to fit the carbs rather than the other way round
good point Cal,I will have a chat with danstengineering.
Here are the pictures ross

In the second picture you can see the TPS also the bolts and nuts that hold the 4 carb bodies together

Cheers STU,
looking like I am going for minicoopers ZX9r's just trying to sort inlet manifold info before final decision.
STU do you use the bikes fuel pump? as minicooper has one with the carbs,or do I use my existing solid state pump around 2.5 bar.
I also understand I need to make a air box!!
those carb's are the same as mine
I've got a bogg bros pinto manifold for mine which keeps the standard spacing
but you can re-space them if you like (its a bit fiddly and you won't gain much power, but the manifold is a little easier to make...)
the late model ZX9R carbs (like those ones) all have a TPS built on, but some earlier models didn't
the 'very' simple way to think about the carb size is 600cc bike = twin 40's, 900-1000cc = tiwn 45's

Excuse the ignorance, but would the same setup be suitable for a Duratec? (Sorry for the hijack!)
If you can get the bike fuel pump use that or if you ave a adjustable fpr dial down to about 2.5 psi.
When using ZX9 carbs do they have to be modded to correct the ram air float bowl pressure thingy
they use ?
When removing the fairing on the bike (streetfighter stylee) there's some additional plumbing used.
The zx7 has a similar setup for ram air tubes. There is no requiemt to alter the float bowls
poorscoucer, bring it on the more posts the more info I get
So I should get the bike carb fuel pump or a regulator for the existing pump,ok will look into that.
cheers guys

If your using a low pressure pump at present then you shouldnt need to change it. Why are you outing the webbers though cant see you gaining much
other than better MPG.

Bob

Only changing the 40's because should be 45's with 5 progression holes and the next best solution looks like zx9r bike carbs...
one of these will help you make the airbox / filter backplate easy
