Zetec Silver-top shortened sump pics

Hi all, after a recent thread about shortened zetec sumps i have decided to chop my 1.8 silvertop sump myself and a friend is going to weld it up for me.
I have removed said sump from said zetec but before i commit myself to much i would love to see some pictures of chopped sumps but more importantly pictures and/or illustrations of ther baffle arrangements.

Hmmm...interesting, i had something simpler in mind by leaving the rear lower part alone and just chopping the front deeper bit off. Their baffling seems a bit erm.... baffling? can't get my head round it, any more baffle pics people?

Note that they cut the side out to clear the starter motor and weld in a plate.

When your mate welds it, it will need to be clamped down to stop it distorting.

I chopped the front of the sump on my 1800 escort engine and made some baffles from steel welded to the windage plate.
I havent used it on track yet but had no problems on the road, more pics in my archive.

Sump is not quiet finished yet, sump plug to drill and thread and the baffles will be a kind of paulf version.

In fact after looking at pauls baffle i think that might well be spot on.

Whats the height of that sump, it looks like itīs higher then 16cm

Hi jonte

The sump was milled down to the same spec/size as the scholar engineering sumps as shown.

I think from memory the info i gained from members on here it is 160mm but couild be 155mm, i will have to brave the cold in the garage over the weekend and have another measure to be exact.

I have gained some of the lost capacity with pockets made up from the original sump base at the front and box area at the rear which aslo act as a slight baffle.

Paulf's windage tray looks the way to go re baffle around the oil pick up point, myself and conrodkid will experiment (bodge) something similar and hope for the best.
