don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Guess there must be a class of racing which this would be the ultimate.

For road use you could build 8, more powerful, brand new Zetecs....

exactly what i was thinking. my engine has cost about £450-£500 to build, its only a ecotec out a vectra, but it should have more power that that engine.

but if there's a racing class where it has to be a x-flow...

Heritage?

Mr Dave Walker of CCC (R.I.P.) was suppposed to be building the 'ultimate' X-flow powered Westfield.
It was featured in a article called 'Dave Walkers Unfinished Projects' (or something similar).
Don't know if he ever finished it.

If i was a millionaire with an old seven or escort then i'd buy it.

That engine is sweeeeeeeeet!

(although not 100% sure about the colour.)

Some things are right and some things are wrong.

You wouldn't put a pinto in a classic alfa your restoring even if it did make more power (and if you would i'd suggest you've lost your marbles).

There will be plenty drooling over that lump, a handful mulling over whether they can afford it, and 1 or 2 who will actually enter negotiation to buy the thing.

Not really that surprising (is it?).

That price doesn't suprise me a lot TBH. Yes it is a lot for what you ultimately get but it'd most likely be used in one of a number of classic formulas, classic-clubmans for example. In fact that won't be the most serious lump by quite some way, admitadly it'd be down 100cc or so on most. There are even some claiming the illusive 200bhp x-flow!

Well, in that case I suggest you name your source and claim a commission! You'll be a rich man fairly quickly as up to 180 'reliable' crossflow ponies will cost many thousands here in the UK!

Above 180bhp? You're sitting on a time-bomb with a VERY short fuse!

And a 'new' one you say! Do they have a time-machine in SA? I only ask as the Ford "Crossflow" variant of the Kent engine was only made between 1968 and 1984!

These Guys have been able to build you a 193bhp 1700 xflow for at least 25 years now and used to be in Kent Cams advertising blurb for years as the masters at big horsepower xflows.

However.

Said engine was mega highly strung, was strictly race only and cost thousands.
