Something to convert perhaps....

Now I'm getting interested. "Westwood Lawnbug" on Youtube mainly turns up lawnmower racing videos.

I watched them at PPC in the park last year. Me and a mate thought it was the best bit of the day and we both talked about doing it a week later in the pub......

did you see my comment about the next pub meet?

Spent the days since then lifting floor boards & fixing the problems left by the gas people

Today dropped a clanger and circular sawed through the cold water pipe (i didn't tighten up the depth stop enough and it slipped as i cut). Rather scary to see a 1 foot fountain appear out of a bedroom floor whilst holding a running circular saw. Even more scary was realising that the gas people had been 'mistaken' and i'd missed a gas pipe by millimeters Pipes all fixed now and tomorrow i'm putting the house back together before starting building kitchen cabinets and painting two rooms.

I suspect 5 year plan may not be wrong

Yeah baby!! Please bid! Grab this one whilst it's available. Then if you change your mind you could always do some gardening with it !

Westwood lawnbugs compete in Group 3, after race preparation. (see the photo below)

Also see this - British Lawn Mower Racing Association (BLMRA)

Excerpt from the British Lawn Mower Racing Association (BLMRA) website:

" Group 3 is for wheel driven mowers originally designed, manufactured and sold to mow domestic lawns, not game fields, golf courses or the rolling prairies of the American Mid-West.

As with group 2 these require a lot of preparation but are seen as the fastest; potentially top speeds are in the order of 40-50 mph.

Westwood Lawnbug’s are the most prevalent mower type in this class as they appear to be more agile than some of the other “rider” style mowers used in the past. Occasionally appearances of such machinery as the Mountfield M25 rider and Arians Triple M are made but these do not generally fair well against the Lawnbugs due to being rear engine machines.

Currently all Group 3 mowers must be “Homologated”; a process to determine eligibility and suitability for inclusion in the Group, details available in the BLMRA Handbook.

Definition
A Group 3 lawn mower is a garden ride-on, wheel driven machine with a chassis designed to cut grass for an engine up to 18hp with no obvious bonnet and designed to cut grass for domestic purposes.

Anyone preparing a new Group 3 mower must contact the race committee.

Do not assume that your type of machine is homologated even if you think you have seen something similar racing."

I know a bloke that does that. He said its great fun but you hurt like hell afterwards.

His thing has some engine on it that cost him a fortune but it accelerates like stunk.

Dan

Hey Dan,

Do you think he might know someone who would be interested in the ebay ad?

Perhaps you could let him know about it?

thanks and best regards
Dave
