With that 4x4 box on it it must be the truck version, known as the Vortec 5300 (no such thing as LS5). They dont make so much power and have iron
blocks. Though that does look aluminiumy...

Ah - there was an aluminium version of the Vortec 5300 used in a couple of models. 'Only' 280 - 300bhp. Still - wouldn't kick it out
of bed. Probably cheaper lighter 300bhps to be had though.

Very likely to about 325HP so not bad for a truck engine!. If it has an alloy block then it is probably an LH6. So not that different from my LS1
apart from the, smaller displacement, inlet manifold and maybe the cam (the heads may actually be better than mine). GM do mix n match there engines
so you can find all sorts of parts on some of the production runs.
Mines an LS1 but has the LS6 inlet manifold and block which were improvements.
