Oil Discount - Reading

I'm always surprised by the retail prices on fully synth so I've negotiated a special discount with a local accessory shop which they are willing to offer to other LCB'ers:-

It's top spec (BMW, VW, Porsche and Renault), fully synth. Comma Syner-G 5W/40, 5 ltrs @ £26 + VAT = £31.20 - that compares very favourably with fleabay where it's advertised at £47-50/5litres
That price applies to walk-in customers quoting the code word BYE - no particular time limit on the offer but subject to no price change from their supplier and run at the shop's discretion.
Max. 4 x 5 ltr container per customer i.e 1 case/visit/customer.
Individual discounts available on request i.e. diffferent oils, audio, accessories.
They also stock lots of those hard-to-obtain clips and trim items as well as odd-balls like gasket paper.

Shop is:
Marparts , Church St. Caversham, RG4 8AX. Tel 0118 948 4002.
People travelling distance might be advised to ring first to check availability - speak to Steve or Jess.
There is free parking in the Waitrose car-park just behind - go through the archway and follow your nose.

There's no personal gain in it for me, just that they are a proper accessory shop and in these straightened times need all the help they can get.
Heaven forbid we all end up having to shop at Halfrauds - good in some areas they may be but they can't beat one-to-one service by knowlegeable staff - we use the likes of Marparts or lose them.

Trust this of interest to other members.
Cheers, Pewe.

Thanks for organising that and sharing.

I agree completely with your sentiment, my local car place closed and now its a real pain when I need something interesting.

Regarding that specific oil if you are going to use it in your VW/SEAT/AUDI/SKODA then check the codes are right for your engine.
The approvals are: MB 229.1, MB 229.3; VW 502 00, VW 505 00; BMW LL-98; RN0700, RN0710; PORSCHE

There is a good lookup table here.

VW seem to change the required standard a lot. It might all be bogus but to my mind not worth the risk if the numbers don't line up.
