A whole load of issues come between purchase of that and having a driveable legal car though.

P.S. It's about ten minutes away from me.

Remember no SVA test on this one (retains VW floorpan, suspension, gearbox and engine).
Just a regular MOT and no tax!

Not so sure about that.

Quote direct form the advert

General

The donor car is 1967 making it tax exempt. I have the V5 in my name. It is not described as an historic vehicle as it should be, but I checked this with the DVLA and it is not a problem. The first time you apply for a tax disc, you need to go direct to the DVLA.

It has independent rear suspension and drum brakes all round.

I don't think it has ever been on the road as a nova, as many parts look like they have never been fitted. e.g. no holes have been made for rear lights, so a good bit of tinkering will be required to get it on the road.

I would put money on the log book saying Volkswagen.

i think alan means that you can leave it registered as a beetle. Not a clue myself...

Yep, the Nova was a re-shell for the beetle so no need to re-reg or SVA as it retains floor pan and everything.

Yes but 1200cc of uncontrolable power , crap brakes , no heater system to speak of and poor ventilation. At least a locost has style and ok performance with even a 1300 cross flow.

well , novas used to take off , under beetle power , so im not sure youd want to stick 100 hp more in there to do a donald campbell .

regarding the logbook , lots of buggys have been done like that , basicaly being desribed as a two seater beetle .

unfortunately , if there is any discrepancy betwen logbook and description on insurance one could be in trouble , since it is actually a kit car , and the reg plates would tell a policeman its a beetle , but lo and behold its a nova .

its been done , and im sure you can still do it , its a bit of a grey area tho .
