You'd have to get a white jockey's helmet and refer to it as Little Nelly!

That's why it's black - so you can fly it at night and no-one will know!

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in
sideways, Chardonnay in one hand, Tequila in the other, body bearing battle scars and totally worn out, screaming- WOO HOO!! What a Ride!

Ah, right-ho. I must've heard wrong then. it woulda been a shame if they had banned them!
Do you have to wear really tight shorts as well as a white jockey hat?

There was a restoration program on Discovery a while ago about rebuilding one of these - it was a lot of work.

When I was young and stupid I always wanted one of those.
Very cool. The reason they have a bad rep for safety is they can start 'porpoising' which is unintuitive to control. The cause IIRC is
they just hang from the rotors so the main body can swing like a pendulum, the swings can build up and pushing the stick can increase the magnitude if
you get it wrong until the whole thing falls out of the sky.
They are actually very safe as losing power means you come down like a sycamore seed almost automatically.

I love the look of them and the idea of building one. They have the highest fatality rate of any aviation craft in the U.K.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I have always fancied one as well. What sort of license do you need to fly them? I saw a whole fleet of autogyros near Perth a couple of years ago
they do look fun.

my cousin wanted to build one. Even went as far as organising a holiday that just happened to be next door to the uk annual meeting.
Wife wasn't impressed with the idea and she didn't believe how "lucky" they where to be right next to the annual show on their
yearly holiday.
I believe she decided he wasn't going to build one. Shame as he'd have done a good job.

well then, does anyone here know what's required to build one and fly it
What does a kit cost?
what does the training cost?
Yes, I know - I'm old and very dumb
what is the fatality rate?

my kit cost me 25000
the build is not bad the only thing is you have to build it in stages and get it checked then build some more get it checked its like having an sva
test after putting on your wishbone then one after fitting the wheels all the way
pain up the ass but bloody good fun

Don't you have to do microlight training & test, plus something extra for the gyrocopter?
