What is wrong with this?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-4-0MP-DIGITAL-VIDEO-CAMERA-CAMCORDER-32MB-SD-UK_W0QQitemZ190151135347QQihZ009QQcategoryZ11724QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZVi

Aside from the fact its battery powered, small memory and probs not great quality - for the price it looks fantastic. Why is it so cheap?

expensive postage to avoid ebay charges
2mp (interpolated to 4mp)
digital zoom only
max 1gb card
max 15fps (low) at 320x200 - around vhs quality when not connected to a PC.
its poor basically.

what is wrong?
how about: Postage costs: £25.99
but still, if you look at maplin site, they do 5 MP for £ 100 so does seem a good deal all in,
but not as good as this one! (3.1 MP interpolated to 12 MP)
chaep/small camera to fit the camera perhaps?
check what size memory card, if any, it comes with.

I've got one - it's good enough to play around with, I don't care too much if it gets broken, and I'll probably use it to make
some videos of me driving the car. Mine only cost me around £10 + £5 P&P with a memory card included! Cheap and cheerful, just-about acceptable
quality (my stills camera will beat it hands-down for short videos, but this will record as long as there's enough memory).
£25 for P&P is a joke - it weighs around 110gms, plus a few leads and a CD-ROM.
Walk away, and get a cheaper one elsewhere...
If you want to do an ebay search, look for 'Mustek DV5000' - you should find one at much better terms.

I was actually looking for bullet cams and suitable recording devices. I know this isnt suitable for bullet cam but was shocked how cheap they are.

They're basically a digital camera. The "camcorder" bit of it is pretty pants. Low FPS and resolution sucks....
So basically its a big digital camera. And it's only 2MP. The whole "interpolation" thing is pure snakeoil. You can't do be
like CSI in the real world and "predict" data where there isn't data. You can record a 2MP file and take up 4MP of space but
you've still only captured 2MP of data....

The video camera is VGA resolution 640 x 480 not much better than youtube.
I think you will be disapointed even at that price. Also the optics will be sh*t.

I think that there's some nonsense being spouted here - this was originally a cheap camera with no pretensions that works quite well, after a
fashion. If you want higher quality, you have to spend more money.
If you want to see what one can do, click on the YouTube video in the first post to this
topic.
A reasonable picture and, if the picture gets broken, it's not the end of the world.
