Possible project starter...?
Crashed Caterham. Bit pricey but a good head start to your project... No connection!

If the insurance company paid out £16,500 - there has got to be more damage than can be seen - like bent chassis etc etc!
According to ad- it needs:
Nosecone 150
Side panel 200
Bonnet 250
F&R M/guards 150
Scuttle 200
Windscreen 300
H/lamp 200
Wheel 100
Exhaust 300
Suspension 400
According to my maths, that nearly 2300 to fix.
Be inclined to have it stuck on a jig b4 I even thought about it
Me thinks it doesn't tell the whole truth!

Bodyshop maths would be like this
Pre Accident Value £16,500
Salvage 30% £4950
Repair Value less 10%=£10395
Ex Vat this amount = £8846.80
Less Parts £2300+vat =£6144.30
(personally I think there would be at least £500 of small sundry parts)
labour, about 80 Hours @ £24 =£1920
Paint & Materials £300
This gives a repair cushion of about £3800
It is more probably that the bodyshop didn't want to repair it as anything non mainstream is unprofitable, the assessor got scared of it, and
bridged the gap to kill it. Special negotiation with the salvage company to raise the salvage value - hence the high reserve!!
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Probably worth asking Caterham for a quote - my son's friend rolled his Superlight (don't ask!), which Caterham subsequently fixed for
£3500.

P.S. The driver walked away from it, unscathed.
