Portable Jump Starter and compressor

on offer at maplins. i've had one about a year after plenty of people on another forum recommended them. used it 4 times in the last week on different cars and its still got life left in it. on offer till the 26th jan

Tip keep it in the house in really cold weather as battery performance really falls off sharply below 0c


At -20c a battery has only 50% performance compared to 20c

I bought a Halfords one which is currently at half price I think.
They are most excellent, and if you camp a lot like me, the Halfords one has a lamp too.

Batteries cold weather efficiency can be helped by insulating them in cold weather.

Cheapo way is with a decent pair of scissors, a couple of cardboard boxes in similar size to the battery and some gaffer tape.

Basically chop the two boxes to fit the battery, including the base then tape them together.

My Niva has a double skinned box over the battery which works a treat.
