Sadly it is unlikely that it will ever be a Dutton again but I can only hope that its used in a honest manner but already had a couple of docs only PM
request through this site !
Strangely they attempt to drag you into an illegal undertaking and and offer you less than the asking price ! LOL

Is there any reason that this chassis could not be altered to accept an IRS and Locost/Haynes front suspension without needing to be IVA'ed?
Using regular photographs and a blog to show complete and continued use of the majority of the existing chassis?
Just an idea brewing . . . . . . .

You can't alter the chassis at all without needing an IVA - as a number of Range Rover based special builders have found to their cost.

I recently had a discussion with a fellow kit car owner who was selling his 'correctly registered' 1968 reg'd car with historic tax.
I questioned how it could be historic when the kit wasn't produced until 1983. To prove his point he wrote to DVLA for confirmation. He no
longer has historic status on his V5!

Plenty of Duttons out there with modifications to improve the safety of the car around the original chassis - one I did a while ago
And that one was correctly registered with the DVLA as a FORD Coupe - I applied for the V55 info and it provided all of the correct submittal forms
from the applicant and the scribbles and hash up from the DVLA processing clerk in 1977 getting it all wrong. Some things never change...

There has been another thread running regarding that ""Dutton"";

I don't think that there is very much "Dutton" in that car whatsoever, maybe just the VIN tag ! !
The seller deleted questions, it was reported to eBay and eventually the seller pulled the ad !

the seller insisted being a dutton and even argued with me when i asked him that its pressumeably a MK indy which has been put on the road, avoiding
IVA, using a dutton v5c.
"I bought and adapted a Dutton chassis in good faith ensuring I have worked well within the law which is more than most kit car builders do.

"I could send you pictures of the chassis, I could send you picturers of the chassis when I bought it, I could show you picturers of the

He was very unlikely to admit to what is essentially an illegal act now, was he?
I asked what model Dutton it was based on and he could not even answer that simple question.

What about this then.
If all those car that are incorrectly registered as Duttons are being found out.
Perhaps there is now a market for brand a new Dutton chassis, so that people reuse these V5's properly. Isn't there a caveat that allows
you to replace the chassis with an identical version and retain the V5.
Its a wierd world.
