Halfords Ratchets

been going through the reductions at work today for the first halfords sale i've seen that's actually worth having.

the 72 tooth ratchet handles are now obsolete. 1/2" drive ones are down to a fiver, and the 1/4" ones are £3. there should be a 3/8" one too, but we didn't have one left, so i didn't check the price. these were all over £20 originally btw.

don't go to dewsbury hoping to find them, since i've got dibs on all we had left, but you might get lucky.

there's allsorts of other bits from the tool range in there too, and stuff goes on sale on tuesday

tom

Edit : forgot to mention, they're also doing 1kg ABC extinguishers for a quid. they were £27 originally, and water pump pliers for £3.
17cm pioneer components for a fiver for anyone wanting speakers too(there's some others, but again, i only checked what i was after).

another thing i've remembered is there was a mountney boss for a sierra on my list today too. absolutely attrocious quality, but at a fiver, it's definitely locost.

And you think any of the good stuff is going to be left for the general public ?

The staff will have all the good sh*t for themselves.

Went to a couple of branches and no tools were on sale. However, they did have some useful plastic tool boxes for sale at £1 each, so I got 4! When I got them home there actually more boxes inside, like a china doll. The picture on the front shows what looks like a range of boxes, but you get them all for £1.

I'd be interested to get an update from other people about these tools though. There were several 72 ratchets in stock in both branches.

Well there has been a sale on since the weekend at least, but it was only on the junk they couldn't sell of Christmas from the looks of things.

Went to local store, picked up a 1/4, a 3/8 and a 1/2 and the till rang up with £70 odd, so had to sheepishly ask till girl to take them off.

Explained the situation and she had a look at her sale item list but no mention of the rachets I picked up on there. She reckoned there might be some older design 72 teeth rachets that they may be selling off, but none in the Plymouth store. The new ones have rubber inserts in the handles for anyone wishing to bag a bargain.

The 60 piece Professional socket sets were definately reduced, but of course not a single one in the store!

Note that the bargain products are not always marked down, depending on how slack the staff are. You can just get it scanned at the till as the database will hold the reduced prices.

Went back in today (Jury Service - time to kill!) and spoke to the man with a list - he reckons the lists are branch specific but if anyone has any code numbers he could sort out right away, to prove point he scanned 3 ratchets and all came up full price, he did say he''d have a look for some Mountney bosses in his own shop.

well, i apologise to all for a predictably crap effort by the company.

i'd say i'm surprised..............but you know

just to prove to you all that it did happen, i went in today and bought the ratchets, a fire extinguisher, and some pioneer components, all for the grand sum of £11.90.

sorry again,
tom
