5l Petrol (Jerry) cans at Tesco for 28p
National offer, they're changing the colour or packaging or summat, hence Tetrapak 5l green plastic fuel can's are available from Tesco
petrol stations for 28p each.
I bought 2 earlier today and they had a pile of 'em.
That is all

I don't mean to be a pedant, but I'm tired.. and I can't help it.
Jerry cans are the 20L-ish pressed metal cans, so called in the second world war because the allies spotted them and found them much better than their
own petrol cans.
5L plastics aren't jerry cans.
Sorry. you may throw vegetables at me.

Agreed... Jerry Cans are 20 or 25 litres.
Also they are not strictly legal to carry petrol in.
They dont meet the spec of a screw cap lid.
They carry too much fuel ie Max size is 10 litre metal can
And need to me marked Petroleum Spirit Highly Inflamable (Easily Fixed).
Also Law says:
2 x 10 litre Metal Cans
OR
2 x 5 litre Plastic containers (of the correct sort)
is the MAX you can carry in a car.
Also I believe you have to carry them in the boot and not inside the passenger compartment of the car (not 100% on the where to carry bit).
Also not on the outside of the car. This was mainly for the old Land Rovers that have a fitting for 2 x 20 litre Jerry cans on the front bumper. Nice
in an accident NOT
We had the local Petroleum Officer from Trading Standards come and give a short talk to our Land Rover Club. Very interesting it was, and he was just
as interested in what we did, as he didnt get invited to clubs very often. (Tip... Hold the meeting in a pub)
OFF RECORD, he said he would rather see it in Jerry Cans, than the wrong type of plastic can.
There are a lot of Ex Surplus cans on the market. The MoD got shot of 2 MILLION jerry cans about 5 years ago. They do not have the safety Split Pin
through the cap.
So be aware of these. Also you should check the rubber seal in the lid. They are very cheap to replace, and could save your life or worse still.

2. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

Yes they are, they're just smaller, more plasticky, redesigned Jerry cans fit for the 21st century

OK then, at B&Q today I say 'proper' jerry cans, only 5L made of steel and look like the real thing. Can't remember the exact
price but they were less than £5.
I might even go back and get one.
