Couple of (probably) basic problems
My grandads mk4 (97) fiesta has a couple of problems.
Firstly the boot release doesn't work and secondly the indicators dont flash when the car is locked/unlocked. The wiring diagram in haynes
manual doesnt show the indicators wired to the central locking but he insists they used to flash.
I have checked all the related fuses and they are all fine. Have checked bulbs too, they are all fine.
The other thing i have noticed is that the red light next to the clock (immobiliser?) is on all the time and doesnt flash.
Any idea's to any of the above?

are you sure the lights flash, brother got a 2000 focus and the lights dont flash on that, unless it has the same problem

sounds like the alarm / immobiliser if it has one...
The lights wont be connected to the central locking, its the alarm that will flash the indicators.
Kindest Regards,
Richard.

my mk4 with key operated central locking didn't flash. mk 5 only flashed when the double locking was used, either with double click on the fob
or turning key to unlock then lock
my boot relese on the mk5 was pap went back atleast 15 times got free service and cheep wheels out of it too, ford eventualy changed the whole
boot lock mech including the solenoid. Easiest thing to rule out first is clean the contacts on the boot lid and shut, remove both the contact units
and clean them inside and out

Depending on the model of Mk4 Fiesta you can tell if it has an alarm. If it has an alarm the indicators will flash. Check that the bonnet and boot
switches are working as this could cause both of your problems. The indicators may not flash becasue it thinks the bonnet is open (for example).
The ford alarm is where the central locking modual is. I thought this was the passenger side maybe in the kick panel. Get in the car and keep locking
and unlocking the doors. Listen for the relay clicking and chase the noise. Thats where the alarm modual is. You will then be able to see if the
indicator wires go in and out of the box.
Sounds silly but read the owners manual about the immob light. It may tell you something usefull.
I have not done this for some time, I am running from distant memories!!
Enjoy.

my mk4 didn't flash when locked/unlocked.
also had similar problem with the boot and it was due to corrosion of the contacts. gave them a good clean and ensured the springs were free and it
was sorted.
Cheers
Mark
If it isn't broke, fix it until it is
