FS Ginetta Tora with Holbay engine

A good friend of mine has a Ginetta Tora with a Holbay engine. Its in need of a full restoration, but must be worth saving.

Its near Peterborough, as said my mate is selling it on ebay but I thought you guys may have an interest in it. Advert from ebay below...

ebay link

Speak to Tim for all the details (his number is on the advert) and tell him Steve let you know about it.

tbh in that condition he'd be better just offering it for free, it'll take much more than its worth to restore

... and still be worth FA in the end.

I predict £ 120.

He is under the impression that someone will buy the Holbay engine and get the rest of the car for free.
Holbay engine, twin 40's, set of wellers. Some good bits there.

In that case he'd be better just taking the engine out, cleaning it up a bit and selling it separately. The fact that it’s stuck in that decrepit jeep does nothing for the value of the engine.

My dad had one of them, my mum called it the tank. We did Newark every year in it as a kid.

Ahh memorys. it was bassed on a hillman hunter.

I would say £500 if the log book says gineta

Don't wish to Pi** on the original poster's bonfire, but that's the point.

These cars are from the Walklett era and are correctly known as GRS Tora. They were never known as Ginettas.
Now, Ginetta produced some right cack, I had a G26 and that was atrocious, that the Tora was not allowed to be called a Ginetta is something of a pointer IMHO.

On the other hand, a 1.6 Zetec runs as sweet as a nut on some Webers liberated from a 1725 Holbay engine. We did it with my first Sylva years ago and it was spot on. Didn't change a thing.
