Not Locost, but a Heck of a Kit!

eBay Linky

I spoke to the guy and he'd deal at £7k for the whole lot... not bad when you consider it's only done 16 hours or so running and the new cost was in the region of £17k!

I've thought about it as that's the box I'd like to run with the Audi V8 (when the buggers ready!) and I'd rather not pay Quaife £7k for a new one, but I just don't have the spondoolicks!!!

Turbo a 1litre bike engine and you'll see similar power on a standard engine and you get a 6 speed sequential for free. And plenty of change from 7 grand. (and I reckon the torque figures would be similar and the weight is going to be less).

That's my plan anyway

Gotta love sequential boxes anyway you look at it though.

This was up before but he pulled it just before the end. Sounds nice but £7K is a lot more than my entire locost build budget. 16 hours running could be quite a lot depending on what he was doing for those 16 hours, if you consider that the 200hp Judd K2000 Rover engine is good for 3,000 miles before needing a full rebuild.

Ah, but that's a Krazy-K-Series... any Caterham / Lotus owner with a VHPD engine (190bhp) will tell you they are a bit 'fragile'. If Judd are kicking 250bhp out of them, then I can understand it's low life expectancy!

I'd hope for a little more from a 250bhp Duratec!

i'd guess the duratec is quite happy at 250bhp for a long time.

Yep, all day every day and all it takes is throttle bodies and cams.
