I was actually wondering why this isn't done. There are a lot of snowmobile engines around here, and right now, there isn't a lot for them to do since the lakes and rivers are no longer safe.

I was looking at these engines yesterday.

Found a couple if vids on youtube with buggys using Polaris engines, complete with the open CVT system.

They are two-stroke usually, so you'll never pass any emissions test.

They are used quite a bit in light hovercraft.... But they are noisy and smelly!

They are most definitely noisy. They are the most annoying things around, next to those "personal watercraft" that those same bozos make. But they have serious power. Every year, several idiots kill themselves on them around here misjudging their traction and hitting trees. They often hit trains too because the tracks are a good place to get big speed. As I said, not too smart.

Hmm.

I think they also do four stroke versions and some that appear to be related to the R1 in the case of Yamaha.

Though when I looked at what they were selling for overseas they weren't that cheap.

But if the CVT can take the strain then it could make for a very quick car.

It would probably seem a bit weird to drive at first though - whats the crack with engine braking etc?
