Please don`t ignore. Help needed. Sierra diff codes again!!!
I know this subject has been covered countless times in the past.
I have been offered a diff that is allegedly from an xr4x4.
Code number is 85BB AA 362.
I cannot find reference to this code anywhere.
Also spoke to bloke this morning who said that when he turns the input shaft only 1x output shaft turns.
Could anybody enlighten me as to what car it is from and whether it is a LSD please???

Sounds like an open diff if only one side turns when turning the pinion.

If it's from an XR4X4 it should be a 3.62 with an LSD. If only one output shaft turns it hasn't got an LSD ergo I'd suggest it
ain't from an XR4X4. Can you get to see the diff for yourself to check it out?

Thanks for the link.
I have looked on there already and there is no reference to the numbers I have been given.
I have found this link that is saying that the double "AA" in my code makes it a LSD???

They were my thoughts regarding only 1 x shaft turning.
Forgot to mention that it has the shafts and hubs etc still attached, would both shafts definitely turn when not under load if LSD?

Lock the input shaft and turn an output and the other output should turn in the same direction if it is limited slip.

No - if it does the diffs broken!
With the input shaft locked it should be very difficult to turn the output shafts in opposite directions. An open diff will turn by hand very easily,
an LSD will be very tight in comparison.

No, they will both turn if its LSD with no load on either wheel. If only one turns it ought to be very very tight to turn on the input shaft with an
LSD.

Could it be off an XR4 as oppose to a 4x4? I think mine is XR4 and it's a 3:62 open.

i'm sure if you hold one of the output shafts, you would find it imposible to turn the imput shaft my hand if it's lsd
if it's not lsd the other output shaft would turn instead
