The title is misleading - it's not a Jag, it's a replica! A very nice one but still a replica! That breaches ebay rules. It's like
selling a pre-lit Westfield and calling it a Caterham...........

It is a Jaguar, its an E Type which has had the non structural outer panels replaced with alloy low drag replicas.
The title is probably boarderline but his description states re-creation, he's been trying to sell it for about a year now, if you allow £50K on
top of what Evans spent on his resto, for the alloy work, it is way over priced.

Very pretty car but way to much money.
Mind you, if it comes with a tank of fuel it's probabaly good value with todays prices

Somethings not right, if I put my Jags reg. no. it comes up correctly as an E Type, so its not a case of the database not recognising the model.
See if he answers my Qs

I expect there was an S type knocking around somewhere with a funky registration plate, so they just swapped the plate over, registered the engine
number (unless maybe the S type supplied some of the bits?) and broke up the S type. Seems to happen a lot in classic car circles.
Not so long ago there was an article in a kit car magazine about a replica XJ13 (I think, classic Jaguar anyway) and when I looked up the
registration, lo and behold it came up as a Jaguar saloon! It wasn't even a Jaguar, let along a saloon! Still, old XJ6s are cheaper that IVAs.

Well here's the sellers response
Good afternoon, the car was built on a brand new tub and shell with the identity of an S type about 16 years ago by B**** W*********. The car has a
4.2 E type engine and gearbox and we have all the correspondence between Bryan and the owner regarding the build, hope this helps.
For £1/4M I would want everything spot on, with all the anpr kit around this could result in one great bite on the ar$e for someone.

As you mentioned before, it should be a 3.8 not a 4.2. That, with it being registered as an S type, still makes it a nice car but not a real one!
Surely the value would come from exclusivity i.e. having one of the original 12 cars. If I built another 300 approximate copies would they all be
worth the same price as the originals?

So, were Jaguar themselves making brand new E type tubs and shells 16 years ago? If they were not, then I guess those things were made by someone
else, which suggestion leads into it not really being an actual Jaguar (that name being reserved for cars made by Jaguar or people acting on their
behalf).
So, if those parts are actually 'pattern' parts, then it would suggest that the car is not really and truly a pukka Jaguar, and yet it is
registered and described as such, so does that mean it is actually a r****r?
