Build vs drive

When it comes to kit cars, are you in it for the building process, the driving, or a combination of both?

I used to swing more towards the driving, now I think I'm slightly more tilted towards the build side of things. Every time I get my MK road worthy I then can't stop thinking about taking it all to pieces again and have a list of mods the length of a bog roll.

It's all about the build for me. I'm looking forward to the drive, but I already have a tin top for transport and a motorbike for summer fun.

You ought to come up here and build the rest of mine then lol

Saying that, I'm probably enjoying the building more than everything after. But right now, I just want it built

You forgot upgrades and re-builds. Might be on my own but get great satisfaction making it go faster and doing all the upgrades.

More build here, since finishing hardly done any road miles as not really suitable, so track use and it's been pretty limited lately as house has taken over.

Hopefully will get a few track days in this year and some autosolo,s , if I can get my backside into gear then buy a Nomex suit and hat then sprint it as well.

75% build, 25% driving for me. Thoroughly enjoyed building my Indy and then driving it. After selling it when kids took over the biggest hole it left was something to tinker with in the garage (now corrected with another project).

It's all about the drive, building is slow and frustrating.

Not ashamed to say that I brought built.

Driving 90% for me. All of the tinkering is driving Focused not any other purpose.

It surprises me that so many people are build orientated.

I am designing from scratch and building including setting up my own CNC capability., it's 90% in the design and build for me, but was driven by 'I just can't afford to buy any tin top that will perform as I want, and I reckon I can do better than offerings out there (and I will learn more doing it)''.

But I have history when it comes to this, I buy bits and build mountain bikes but never ride them, have a spare room full of electronics kit for tinkering but never get chance to use it to complete anything...

On a site called 'locostBUILDERS', you're surprised people are build orientated?

Sure I know the site name but these things are not LOCOST either!!

Its the point that your building a car, which has a manin purpose of being driven. These things are very fast and driving is a lot of fun. We are all petrol heads, bo petrol needed to build a car, only to use it!!

If I was going to spend time in the garage building things but not using them then I would make sure I can sell it for profit. Or make stuff for my friends and family to use.

Each to their own I guess.
