Waterjetting/laser cutting required - 5mm steel
Hi
Can anybody on here help with cutting a few jigs out (circa 150mm x 150mm overall size, with lots of holes and cut-outs in it), from 5mm mild steel.
I need it to test a few things before kicking off any substantial quantity.
I'm only after 2 or 3 at the moment, but might need a few more if I make iterative changes after testing...
Have DWG or similar format available, and no real urgency in terms of timing.
Thanks,

Hello
We use these guys in Portsmouth for similar work, they're quite quick and usually well priced too...

Like most things it is qty dependent and the more you have the lower the unit price.
Most shops I've used have a min. charge or setup cost - this will be lower the better info you can give them e.g. a DWG file etc.

Place near me charges about £65 for initial setup and cutting of one part. The more you need is covered by the price up to the cost of materials. So
if the material is say £50 and you can get 100 parts out a sheet then that's all in for your £65..

I've used Lasereng in the past and was very happy with the service. They sent me way more of the items than I needed just to get to the minimum
order which used to be £35, might have increased now though.

Thanks for the quick replies all, I've fired off a few requests to the links above, with the drawings, so hopefully should get some quotes
later!
Cheers

I send DWG files to Lasermaster for two 5mm mild steel brackets that were approx. 150mm x 150mm, profiles outer and approx. 8 holes in each (bolt onto
the side of my engine as part of the mounts) and I think they were about £7.50 each plus £9 p&p.
I think this lot came to about £35 IIRC.
