Wouldn't this weigh more the the normal body?
Nicely made though

Not at all, usually lighter because in most cases the fibre glass has been put on quite thick.
The Aluminium is only 1.2mm to 1.5mm think so is very strong and light and generally nicer to
work with.

Density of good quality fibreglass is ~2100, Al Alloys are ~2700 - so 23% lighter in best case, but 6061-T6, for example, has 3x the stiffness.
Given stiffness of the sheet is related to the cube of the thickness, you'd need the GFP to be ~1.5 times thicker than any given Alu for the
same deflection.
With vast simplification.

You sound like you know your fibreglass..
Most of the fibreglass panels ive had to deal with you can physically feel the weight difference, ie The aluminium feeling lighter. (Not just lotus
seven panels)
But saying that I can't say if they were made of good quality fibreglass or not..
What about carbon fibre? What's are your thoughts on that regarding strength and weight.

I'd be interested in a custom bonnet in Aluminium, what would be the ball park figure for one with a bulge/scoop/induction scoop?
I've got no drawings but think I'm quite close to you to bring the car over (once working) and talk through some ideas

Nice job, looks good. Similar to the Tiger Alloy RS6 http://www.tigerracing.com/model/tiger-rs6/ but significantly cheaper by the looks of it.

Yes I recall the quality of the RS6 being slated in a magazine awhile back.. And very over priced probably why you've not seen any around..

What would 2 side panels and a rear panel cost for a Haynes roadster?

Ideally these panels need to be fitted to the individual chassis to get a nice quality fit.

Hi,
Just thinking out loud here;
If someone was to book your time in advance, would it be possible to bring a chassis / space-frame to you, for you to custom build these panels onto
?
Regards
Jon
(Yes, I asked the SVA question on your ebay advert).

Yes Jon that is possible and the best way to ensure a good fit. But obviously would cost a little more.
What chassis did you have in mind? :-)
