Gearbox...
Im told they weigh a lot less than the type 9 ? any body know how much power they can take ie tuned 2l zetec???

Not strong gearboxes.
Escort Mk2 gearbox is marginal with a 1600 xflo.
Escort Mk1 gear (visually identical) just manages to cope with a 1300 xflo.
