Interesting idea, and could be a head-turner, but does need a lot of work to be road-legal. Nothing impossible though...

He reckons it is road legal but I reckon you'd get pulled every 2 miles with no front mudguards but as David and Graeme have said looks like it needs finishing.
If it goes at the right money would be an interesting project.

Cheers,
Bob

that looks like you might fall foul of the radically altered vehicle rules as the chassis has been modded but if the dvla has the engine number right and the insurance knows then there isnt much they can do.

Can't see where the chassis has been modified (Beetles aren't a monocoque so lopping the roof off doesn't count like most cars).

I can't imagine that it would require SVA as the bodyshell is still recognisably the original, albeit hacked around. However, the police would soon pull you over and give the car to VOSA to see if it's roadworthy - in other words, to draw up a nice long list of where it fails to meet the construction and use regulations.

The VOSA inspectors were giving a car a severe looking-over when I visited the Norwich Test Centre a while back! Several inspectors, a couple of traffic police and a sad-looking owner, to be precise...

Very nice. They put the scooby engines in vee dub campers too..

That will come under the new rules vosa are trying to bring in regarding modified vehicles making thm all subject to sva. Even with just an engine change. It will kill all the hot rods etc. Trying to find a linky bu cant at the mo.

Dan

I believe (from reading PPC) that they have dropped that idea.
