The 2CV has leading arm front suspension to match the trailing arm rear. The track rods are at the back of the wheel, as is common on Citroens.

2CVs were popular donors for kits becaus the body was held onto the ladder chassis with just a couple of bolts. You could have the donor stripped in minutes. Also the engine could be doubled in power and still last another 100,000 miles.

later 2CVs had 23 BHP. Big barrel kits and a bit of tuning gave 50 BHP. 100 BHP per tonne was quite good in the 80s.

My beetle has only got 22bhp and by time it's got to the wheels through that old transmission and diff it must have about halved

just as well it's streamlined
