Locost dials/gauges - 60mm

Not entirely sure if any of you guys will be happy with the quality of these, I have ordered stuff off dealextreme before, items are usually of quite good quality, and of course free postage

They have tachometer/boost/oil temp/oil pressure/voltage and vacuum.

They work out at £12-13 posted with the current conversion rate

it's quite hard to tell from the photos but it looks like the casing is plastic = cheap

and the dial/pointer look quite cheap to me.

you can see in one of the enlargements that the front screen is perspex = cheap.

no doubt handcrafted from the finest plastic by 5 year old chinese urchins.

(remember you usually get what you pay for).

If it were me, I would avoid but it's your money so do what you want.

A little harsh maybe... Most of the interior of a modern car is made from plastic... The white surround is confusing me a bit though I have to say...

And are you sure they're free worldwide postage or just US?

I knew they were cheap when I found them, thats why I decided to name them locost

But I thought if they were mounted properly, maybe behind a dash, they'd certainly be protected and probably work quite well.

The postage is indeed free to the UK, I use paypal to pay for stuff, have bought loads of things off them. Delivery does take probably 1-2 weeks, but as it's free I've never had any reason to complain.

As is most of the bodywork of most of our cars!!!

I think they look relatively high quality personally, you can garantee that most modern cars will have predominantly plastic gauges!

What I don't like is the white bit that covers part of the face. But that's just a matter of personal taste.

Cheers,
James

Hi

In fairness, I think you'll find most gauges available new nowadays have 'plastic' bodies.

Heh!! add lightness and all that.

I've got a similar tacho that lights up when switched on, but is black with power off.
Its fine at night but competely useless in the daytime, as you can't see it.

Not saying these are the same but personally I think they will be.
