I've got a bike engine very cheap it's an zzr1200 but it said on the bikes log book zx12 . It's an 2002 with low mileage .understand it's a got a lot of torque and responds well to dyno jetting and a good exhaust and air filter. But I know very little about them,my main worry is the sump .as this is a low budget track rat,if anybody got any locost ways to sort it and any other advice on this engine would be greatfully received thanks gaz
Baffle it...
The sump is very low and their is a filter also in the sump .but if the baffle is ok who makes them
Not seen who makes them I have the zzr1100 engine. I had to get a gpz9r sump as it 40mm shorter and I got someone to make me a baffle to avoid the
filter.
Sorry couldn't help further.
Thanks jossey is that a GPz900r of top gun fame from the 80s.also does it have the bosses for the oil cooler

Thanks davie .I've also heard they suffer from oil starvation with hard track use
I've used the same oil cooler pipes but its not ideal as locating the cooler is difficult with such short pipes.
Davie n Guinness helped me with my sump issues.
As long as you baffle it I've been told they are ok. Some say over fill oil very slightly but this has benefits and issues of its own.
