Cleaning Carburettor bodies
r1_pete - 6/1/09 at 11:59 AM

Any advice on cleaning the mazak carburettor bodies? I've seen some impressive results in various photo's on here, just wondered, in addition to elbow grease what people use.

Cheers.
Pete.

I leave them in vinegar overnight then give them a good scrub with an electric toothbrush. Works very well, no problems with rubber parts either. You should have seen the buggy ones after I'd been in the sea and offroad, thought I'd wreaked them came up like new though

Cillit Bang lime and grime. Spray on, work in with a small brush and then rinse of with water.

Like giving them a mild acid bath

I've tried this stuff too, not all that impressed tbh and quite expensive compared to vinegar

Ah you lot obviously don't know how to get real dirt on the carbs

my buggys ones are right next to the back tires and in the open, usually they end up incrusted in mud, cow poo and dead seaguls

You should be flat out sucking the seaguls in.......

Know a few people who have used the dishwasher to good effect.
- Strip, but through on a normal cycal, rinse afterwards.

Otherwise just toothbrush and carb cleaner here.
