tegwin - 9/2/09 at 03:48 PM

Anyone know anything about these? One of the lads at work has offered me one for a resonable price, but I cant find much info about them on the web anywhere...

Are they any good? any idea how much they were new?

are you sure you've spelt that right ?

what is it anyway?

I think one of our scottish contributors has a Fronious TIG of some sort- Possibly Shug?

I seem to recall that they are very good quality Austrian made units

Thats a Fronius Trans TIG 1600, a make of TIG welder.

have seen them here and if the price is right you can't go far wrong.

Fronius are European manufacturers and are one of the best makes you can get, snatch his hand off if you are looking for a tig unit. There's one on ebay now at £395 reserve not met.

Sir Shug of Paterson is indeed the Fronius dude.

Only he's a show off and has two.

Niceeeeelllllllly made kit.

Make sure it will strap down to single phase, most of this stuff wil be three phase.

Peteff - 9/2/09 at 09:15 PM

Fronius description for Transtig 1600 spec says 1x230v which I suspect means single phase and it looks very portable. I read somewhere that it's generator friendly which might come in handy as well if you want to arc weld something off the beaten track.

Oh yes indeedy, thats the Mutts Nutts of Welders, I had a Trans Tig but hes grown up now Cant recommend em enough, chucked all the others out the quality of the Kit is without exception the best buy I have ever made. The area rep up here loves me and keeps throwing consumables at me cause of all my mates that have bought one off him after trying mine!!!! Does everything but make a good pot o tea, and a new one aint cheap btw. My current model is now 4 years old and it still works like new, if u want to weld ali its without exception THE only welder to buy, and its poo hot at exotic metals too
Shug
